- According to Daily FT, on 21 October 2026 he directed the Court Registrar to send case files concerning the IGP to the Court of Appeal President, to start contempt of court proceedings over the alleged failure to comply with court orders. The article says the court had earlier ordered the IGP to issue a nationwide circular against baseless prosecutions, and that the Police Legal Division instead submitted guidelines dated 19 October 2026 covering only the Gampaha, Kelaniya and Negombo divisions, which the Magistrate said appeared to be an attempt to mislead the court.
